The HMS Research Compliance office supports the research community on the HMS campus to facilitate research activities that comply with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations. Our mission is to promote an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct of research and a commitment to compliance with research laws. HMS Research Compliance provides the following services to our community:

  • Advising on the development and implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Providing guidance on the interpretation of policies
  • Communicating, educating and training on regulations and policies
  • Developing open and consistent lines of communication that bolster transparency and encourage incremental improvements
  • Measuring policy and program efficacy through auditing and monitoring
  • Investigating and addressing noncompliance concerns through root cause analysis, reporting and corrective action
  • Assessing and advising HMS research leadership on risk within the HMS research environment
  • Connecting individuals to appropriate HMS business units who manage research business transactions
  • Partnering with business units to improve processes that enhance compliance with policies and requirements

  Our office is available to all community members to report or discuss concerns related to noncompliance or unethical activities directly or anonymously.
