HMS Faculty may be presented with external consulting opportunities from time to time. In general, such opportunities are considered personal – between the entity and the individual faculty member. Nonetheless, we strongly encourage faculty to reasonably limit such engagements so that they do not on average consume more than one day per week.

As a service to the HMS research community, the Office routinely reviews faculty consulting agreements to check against potential conflicts with University policies. Whether for opportunities to speak at an industry-sponsored event; or to become a member of a scientific advisory board; or to perform a scope of services for an external entity, among others, we invite members of the HMS research community to send their agreements in MS Word to
